🦋 IC Information

Character Name: John Allerdyce
Age: 19-20
Canon: X-Men Cinematic Universe
Canon Point: post X2, his first day as part of the Brotherhood
Character History: Here
Canon Abilities:

🔥 Fire Manipulation - John's able to create bigger flames from only a small lighter, cause the ashes of a cigarette to explode into a bigger fire, and effortlessly disintegrate a man with a stream of flames. Later, he's also able to manipulate fire to the point of absorbing it, which is palpable when he's shown to absorb all the fire from Johnny Storm’s body, robbing him of his powers in Deadpool and Wolverine.
🔥 Heat Immunity - He can't be burned or harmed by extreme heat or fire.
🔥 Heat/Energy Sensing - Despite his inability to create fire, John is aware of any usable fire in his psionic vicinity. Even if its ashes or small sparks, he can increase the intensity without having to look at the source. In a deleted scene from X2, when Rogue was struggling to light a campfire, he was able to start it even though the sparks were too small for anyone to notice.

🦋 Personality

Option 1: Answer the following questions. Elaborate on the answer, especially your characters thoughts and feelings surrounding the answer. For Canon Characters, you can choose four questions. For Original Characters, you will need to choose six questions. Keep the word count to 150-400 per question.

  • If your character could ask for one wish, and it's going to be magically granted without any consequence, what will it be and why?

  • John will definitely wish for mutants to be fully accepted, or at least for everyone who opposes their right to live to be eliminated right away. Throughout his life, he had struggled with how the world sees mutants, and how much prejudice they had to endure for being who they are. Not much is known about John's early life, but it's presumed that he faced a lot of discrimination as a mutant growing up, to the point that he developed a kind of disdain towards humans. The reason why the Institute as a whole didn't sit well with him is due to the fact that he wants acceptance no matter what that entails. If Xavier wanted co-existence, John doesn't want any of that if it means mutants bending to the will of non-mutants. He wants equal opportunities for all of them mutants, even if that translates to him desiring a world without humans, and if that means joining Magneto in a quest to get rid of everyone who stands in what he wishes, what he truly wants, then so be it. • If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.

  • Since John technically followed Magneto by the end of X-Men 2, it's safe to say he'd also follow Magneto to another realm, provided it's for the greater good of mutants everywhere. Magneto's influence in him, with words that seemed to ignite, if not awaken, a flame inside him, is truly great. It's to the point that he followed the man to kingdom come and did his dirty and dark bidding, such as attempting to kill his own best friend, Bobby Drake, in X-Men: The Last Stand. It's because Magneto spoke to John's desire for change. He saw in him his full potential and what he could do as a mutant, and not just someone who would want acceptance from a world that continuously denied this to him. Magneto wanted what he wanted, pure and simple, which was the catalyst for John to leave everything and everyone behind to follow him, even if it means burning bridges along the way. In the end, Magneto's words pierced John's desire for purpose, for something far greater than his own insecurities. He could be something in Magneto's team, and he could be part of finding a better place for them mutants, even at the cost of fighting (or murdering) people who would stand in their way. (212 words)

  • What mythological creature would your character most like to be? Which do they identify with? Which would they dread being? Feel free to use our Bestiary for reference.

  • John will be a fury. Following Magneto in his quest for vengeance, John will definitely fit the creature. For him, deciding to join the Brotherhood is his way to punish humans who had repeatedly discriminated mutants, especially those who went as far as harm them. This is an injustice in John's eyes, particularly those who have gotten away with it under human laws. Specifically, those in power, the ones who have positions in the government like Senator Kelly.

Furies can also be summoned whenever someone's angry enough about an injustice, and as someone who's always raging about the prejudice mutants have been dealt (and still dealing) with, John can also summon this creature. However, in a weird twist, John also dreads meeting and being this creature because technically Furies will also punish John for dealing a heavy hand on innocent humans who might not even deserve his anger and rage. Sure, in his quest for vengeance on humans, he'll be able to enact punishment on them, but it's a double-edged sword. John will also be punished for the crimes he did against them. (183 words)

  • What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?

  • John's outstanding trait is definitely, and absolutely, his recklessness. So much of his actions and decisions stem from this trait, like igniting the cigarette butt from the guy who was taunting them in X2. In doing so, he risked giving mutants an even worse reputation, almost giving mutant-haters more ammo against them. He didn't think this decision through, and in the heat of the moment, thought it's the best course of action to get back on the guy for swiping his lighter. There's an argument to be had that his hot-headedness is his outstanding trait, but even if he has a temper, if he's more calculating and not reckless, he wouldn't be a hot mess.

This recklessness is also one of the reasons why he left the way he did. He only met Magneto during that moment, and yet a few well-placed words, and he already chose to follow him and abandon everything he knows, not thinking this decision through. Not even thinking that maybe Magneto's way isn't the right way. His recklessness combined with his temper is a match made in hell and ultimately drove the path he found himself on. Heck, even when Magneto ordered him to deal with Bobby, he let his recklessness get the best of him, not stopping for a minute to think that he's actually going to murder his best friend. Siding with Magneto is also a reckless move given how the man is dangerous and doesn't have any regard for the safety of his own kind, essentially showcasing John's utter lack of regard for the danger or consequences of his own actions. 🦋 Fae Court

List your top three choices for your characters adoptive court. The mods will choose the one out of those three options that seems the most fitting based on your app.

    • Dawn Court

    • Day Court

    • Dusk Court

Ability: Do you want your character to gain the ability of their court? (Delete the other two options.)
    3) Yes, but they either have no ability of their own, or they refuse to trade theirs away; they will buy their court's ability on credit.
